Me, personally, I've always left this visible to all - I feel like my visitors would feel like I have something to hide otherwise.

Yup, me too. Plus, I figure if there are some members who would rather not be on the board at the same time someone else is, they have the option of avoiding the other person. Also, I'm always curious to see who is hanging out when I visit my board.

your right, that would be exactly what i think, i personally never hide my active users, if you want your forum to be popular you should turn it on, people want to see if loads of people use your forum, and if the like your forum enough by posting alot of times. the only time i can think of that you hide your active users is if you've created the forum for testing or its personal and you only want some of your m8s to join, or specific people....

I agree 1000000%.

My brother recently started a forum for all his "buds" from school. They starting posting even before the site had a decent skin on it.
