I was waiting for that question... thanks!

There are several issues related to duplicate content.

#1 vbulletin forum has three ways of showing content to users, one is ordinary forum, another one is vb archive and the last one is prints. If duplicate content policy was real every vb forum would be flagged as dupl content and removed from SERP's. Personaly I think its a myth. Other people think that duplicate content evaluator also takes into consideration html format of the website. Compare for example vb archive with ordinary forum content, its 90% less in size, its more compressed with less tables etc. So here is the deal, no matter how close text content is to an original source, it won't be flagged duplicate if you use drastically different html design of the page. You can google on this, you can find pretty much allot of info about this.

#2 This script isn't a SEO tool, its meant to drive new members to ur website. As the real user activity is increasing, u should depreciate this software and let real users make ur way up to SERPs.

#3 You can always participate in the threads making them unique.

By duplicate content I meant that the content you have in your forum is the same as the content available on another site which in this case is yahoo.

On increasing activity part this could work, especially if your niche is targeted towards teenagers. But this is not a start it forget it script, you and few “real members” will have to participate in each and every topic to make it look real.

However I also agree with Ryan on the part that so many members with 1 post each and with yahoo in their signatures will at some point startle real people. Not to mention if a user tries to make a conversation with the poster he would get no response, which isn’t a good thing for developing a sense of community.

yes, I agree... but u forget one thing, its not for established websites! Its a software that will help u fill up forum - its better to have 1 post users than 0topics in each category, would u agree with that?

Totally, but its better to have 4 topics from actual users than 20 topics from users who look like spam bot .

My 2 cents, it needs quite a bit of tweaking at this moment and would need active participation and monitoring of the Admin.

absolutely! it needs allot of monitoring, what I do right now - is that I occasionally merge several users across threads making them abit more like human... and it does work!

I already stated that, under google analytics I see allot of increase in real member activity and user registration is up by 50%!

anyhow, I'm not an advocate for the script... I just showed it to u, maybe someone will find it useful it turned out quite handy in my case.

good luck to everyone!

If you want posts, do them yourself or pay for them to be done - rather than let a spambot loose on your forums. I can see through those poor robotic posts without any problem at all, and after seeing that, I would not sign up. I hate spambots, so I wouldn't let one loose deliberately on my forum.

okay, paid posting u say... do u know that most of the time paid posters don't have any idea about topic they are replying?

when u say poor robotic posts, ur referring to high quality information provided by trustworthy company like yahoo!

You wouldn't sign up, but others do thats the difference between forum admin and usual member, people u have to understand ur target market!
