Since yesterday I have been using the Geek Gazette (GAZ), which wasn't quite the right thing for me. I don't need software that is by all means tightly integrated with the forum and I'd rather use a stand-alone application that I can import my members' addresses into. So, if anybody has any recommendations, I'd be very happy to hear about those. Thanks a lot! This seems to be a great forum!

You put a input form on your pages, they write their email and hit subscribe and their email is put in a list. You can create plain text or HTML newsletters. I can't find the specific link but will give it in a minute.

No MySQL db needed, uses flatfile to store emails. Has an unsubscribe link option. It seems the website I got it from is not up... http://selfexile.com/category/my-projects/ If it's a permanent downtime, I do have the zip file for it. It is free open source software.
