Instadigi - Automated Content...Thoughts?

Alright, so we've seen some of these automated posting scripts before. cobby once promoted one that imported members and posts from Yahoo Groups and Usenet, but that idea basically flopped because of duplicate content and quality concerns.

Just recently, I've been talking to the owner of Instadigi about a similar service, but I can't say that I personally have seen it in action. I've read quite a bit about it and have seen some positive testimonials. I can also say that I've looked at examples of the automatically generated posts, and they look much better than what I've seen before.

John Chow recently reviewed it here, and there's a long thread at DigitalPoint about it here.

The service is not likely to be something that I would personally use simply because I have no need for it, but I know that there are a lot of people out there who are interested in this kind of thing. If you've used Instadigi before, let us know how it went. If you haven't and want to give them a shot, do AF a favor and go through our referral link

Same method different name, also I think Yahoo has now changed it TOS and one can't use their answers to populate the site which this script seems to be doing!

It's John Cow, not Chow

I haven't heard about it. I will read it later tonight. I am sure my opinions won't change from when cobby was(n't) doing it.

They're two different people. John Chow is the bigger blogger - and John Cow was used as a test to gain popularity because John chow was banned from google.

I thought there was both a John Cow and a John Chow, just wasn't sure...It's not as if everybody on the planet has heard of these guys...but this chow/cow talk is off-topic anyways

Hello guys, i happen to be the person running Instadigi with my development team. First i dont think its the same method you guys are talking about. Along with that Yahoo didnt change any TOS from its developer network for yahoo answers still accepts 5000 queries in a single day from an IP.

And yes you can use answers to populate the site, bcmtouring.

I shall be watching over this thread, to see next time there wont be any false information. Oh and by the way its JohnCow not Chow.

All the Instadigi script does is syndicate data from sites (live.com, yahoo answers, answers.com, etc.) and convert it into a forum-based thread/post format. The OUTPUT of each query depends on the keywords that are used. If the same keywords are used more than once, there is a high probability of duplicated content being posted.

Yahoo! Developer Network Usage Policy

Feel free to ask me any questions, this software is meant to kick start your forum or get it off the ground, or even revive it when necessary as it allows the option of creating posts any time you want during the day or few days later.

Enjoy and do obtain yourself a copy,

Best Regards

I don't really like the word automated & generated content made by a program. I prefer my content to be posted by an actual person.

Although it could be fun replying to a auto generated post maker

I am of the opinion that no matter how these things are packaged or portrayed they boil down to the same thing: content from somewhere else being duplicated on your site.

There may be a market for this, but I think most serious forum owners would prefer to see real content from real people in original form being posted to their sites.
