Should I open my forum off with a referral contest?

I was thinking of having a 2 week long referral contest and the winner would get $75 and second place would get $25.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

The only problem with that is the fact that you would need to advertise it well enough to ensure that enough people participate in the contest. Last thing you want is a person winning by referring only 4-5 people!

Also you would need to keep an eye out on the referrals, heck I can register dozens of times at your forum and that too with a different ip! That would get you a large membership number, but no major increase in posts.

I know how to advertise it. We have email validation on and we will be checking for multiple email addresses.

the header image on your site is....massive. Takes up a ton of usable page real estate.
