Need some advice on a forum theme change.

Hi all, I have owned an off topic chat forum now for 1 year 5 months and we have been doing really well until recently, we have noticed a dramatic drop in member registrations and posting over the last few months, so I brought it to the attention of my staff who thought that it could be with us not having any specific theme to our forum, I took that into account and then took the same question out to the members and the members came back with the same answer that it's because there is no specific theme to the forum, I had one member tell me that he was asked about the forum and what it was about and when he told them that it was a forum for relaxing, chatting and meeting new people they was turned right away.

Now I had alot of suggestions from staff and members and then last tuesday I went ahead and I comepletly changed the forum after an agreement to make us an Entertainment Forum, but now we are having members saying that are not keen on it and that they enjoy having somewhere to go and meet new people, have fun and a chat about everyday things but I also have alot of members who say they would like to see an Entertainment forum and so are happy with the way it's being changed.

I at the moment feel like I am going round and round in circles and wonder if me changing the whole forum drastically was maybe a bad idea.

My website is Share Central

Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I did something similar to what you did with my forum and it closed down last year due to it not being a popular theme/category.
In my opinion i'd stick to the one you've picked and really work at it, and promote it, you've picked an easy category and I picked a hard one.

Try and get your members involved too, maybe a competition on post count/activity? Or get them to refer members and reward them (points etc).

Good luck!
