My forum is dying!

My members nor any of the staff show any interest in the forum, I don't know what it is that makes it so boring.

Please be honest and give me some advice on how I can improve the forum and get forum rolling.

Is it the forum sections that I need to add more? What can it be?

My forum: Web-Talks

Advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

How active are you in your forums? I think if you are very active the members would be more active as well. This could also help with staff not being active.

Something you could do is just ask what they would like to see. Be open to any kind of suggestions since the feedback would be coming directly from the people you are trying to please.

Good luck!

Okay, can you have a look at my forum and tell me what you would like to see at the forum if you were a member and could you give me some overall suggestions please.

Be totally honest.

Thanks!

you have had 17 members log in in the past 24 hours. that is not bad. I would look at your regular 20-30 members who are visiting all of the time and contact those members first. See if each of them can bring 2-5 new members to the forum to give it a new burst of energy and new people. Try contacting the core visitors first and then branch out from there.

It's mostly the same people who are online everyday. I am a getting barely one new member registering a day and I haven't done any sort of promotion except send out couple of emails to MSN, AIM, and Yahoo contacts.

What I concerned about is the sudden stop in posting and lack of interest from people.

I'll try what you said TVDinner.

Maybe try a posting contest. That way you will get them posting to win a prize and will spark interesting topics too~

If you want the really OLD members (and I know this is a cheap method, but it helps) to take another look at your forum, just mass E-Mail all your members about some new addition to the forums? It at least gets them to come and take a look....

Maybe you can run a contest or give out some prizes to members. That would make your members show interest and start posting.

To add to this, you could install a mod that sends an email to members who haven't visited in X days automatically. Lots of times members simply forget about your forum so a reminder might bring them back to check things out. Make sure you have lots of recent discussions so it doesn't appear dead though.
