maddy is on a distinguished road
Retaining visitors

Hi All,

I have a news blog where I receive just over 500 visitors from Google a day. Not many of my visitors have visited the site more than once.

The content is good, not brilliant so will of cause develop this continually. My question is which strategies should I use to get more and more visitors to see my site more than once?

My own ideas are:
- Easy submission to rss/emails feeds.
- Polls
- Competitions
- Forum

The page is still in its early development, so have been thinking of involving the current visitors in this process? What do you think of this and how should I do it?

Any crazy ideas are more than welcome!

I agree with the use of competitions and polls. You want to interact with the visitors more, and make them feel more welcome to the blog. Have you got a forum with this?

Depending on the topic a forum would definitely help, plus this is a forum admin community. I'd say rss is something every site should have.

dvduval will become famous soon enough
Since each site is different, I would start out by asking your members for help. Ask them what they would like to see added to the site. PM some of your regulars directly and see if they can help. Let it be clear that what interests them interests you too.

When you say ask members for help, I would never actually mention the word 'help', as it sound like you are very needy and desperate. But other ideas are good
