plotting any April Fool's pranks on your forum?

I took over a forum for professional and amateur clowns several months ago, and as part of my ongoing campaign to brighten the place up (yes, it was actually pretty dismal when I took over), I've decided I absolutely must play an April Fool's joke on the members. Right now I'm thinking of implementing this phpBB mod there, which will make everyone think they suddenly have admin status. Anyone else planning anything on their forums? *wicked grin*

I haven't thought of anything particular. I don't have enough returning visitors on a daily basis to really make something work well. I could always mess with my staff though. Hmm...

With one of the websites I had been running, a video game modding site, I was considering turning it into a religeous website as an april fools joke. As I'm no longer running it I can't do this, oh well =P

Last year I pulled a pretty good prank with my co-admin at the time...who is actually LarryB here at AF. We ran a pretty close-knit community where everybody knew everybody and the admins were good buddies with the members...Well...a couple months before April Fools, we had been creating fake admin threads. Everything from funny to serious to pointless...We were also creating fake "battles"...we would stage fights in a hidden admin forum where it would appear as if the admins were pissed at each other. Well, come april fools, LarryB announced that I had been banned as an admin for confidential reasons. On top of that, this fake admin section had miraculously become public! Larry had supposedly left on a business trip and was not able to be contacted...meanwhile, the other admins were very non-tech savvy (which was true), so they "could not figure out" how to hide the admin section.

While all of this is going on...Larry and myself are logging into a secret admin account and watching and reading all of the mayhem...simultaneously discussing it with the rest of the admins. People TOTALLY fell for it, for the entire 24 hours...we were keeping a very close eye on everybody to make sure that nobody took it too seriously and left in a fit of rage (as I said, tight-knit community). In the end, it all worked out perfectly...it was a lot of work, but couldn't have worked any better.

Last year, I actually did it in late March, I was a member of a forum for my brother's band. We were all friends and my friend (the guitarist at the time) had the forum. I knew my friend well enough to guess his forum password, which just so happend to be the admin password. I logged in as him and made a big post about how the band was falling apart, the singer was idiot, and I (pretending to be him) quit the band!

I told my brother, who was the bassist, and he thought it was hilarious. He called the drummer and told him to check out the forum. A big show was coming up and they were short a guitarist. The singer was soooooooo mad because up until this point, he never knew there was a problem.

My friend finally logged on and posted that it wasn't really him that posted the first time. The drummer calls my brother back and said it was just a joke...like my brother didn't know. Ironically, they would really split up just days before their big show.

We were not here last April, but I just opened an extra section for staff to fill with crazy stuff which goes public for April Fools's. People will think it's the real staff section...
