How did you get your site to where it is?

I did not see any other posts with this kind of subject.

List your forum and it's statistics (Total, Daily, Members, Etc) and desribe how you got there. What kind of advertising methods you used, what you offered as a service, content, etc. I'm curious to see how other forums that are larged then mine got to where they are today. I really haven't done anything to get it off the ground which is why my forum is not as active after 3 years.

We started out by offering free hosting to all members who owned forums. That ran for a few months. We started on IPB and moved to vB after ~2 months. Released PostFusion about 3-4 months into existence and received pretty good exposure thanks to it. The majority of our traffic, however, has come from signature links. We have paid for very little advertising...most is word of mouth, link exchanges, banner exchanges, and the release of PostFusion. Expenses go towards software, hosting, and the custom design.

Let's see yours, Seraph

I really have done nothing until recently which is why the forum has such a low post count. It's gone up a lot recently since I have made changes. There has been 4,000 posts in the past month since I made the changes. I've added a content section that has not been index by any search engine for some reason, so the content hasn't helped a ton. I've redesigned the site and started promoting where I can at other adult forums and getting reviews of the site for small promotion factor and to get criticism on the site. I've submitted it to directories for backlinks and to raise my rank in google for my targeted term, I'm not rank #3 for that term. (I'll be working on my other term now for ranking) I've tried contacting people for link exchanges, over 100 sites, only a few responded. I'm thinking of using Adwords for promoting. I'm looing for ways to promote it. I'm trying to work on a sexier site design since sex is spicey and the current design doesn't say spicey. Looking back on some of the previous threads, I made some wrong choices over a year which dampered the site growth.

How did you get there?: After being contacted by former members of small board that was a part of another site that had shut down and after several discussions I decided to start my own. I started by contacting members of the former forum and then starting contacting close friends and business associates about the site. I have been in the business for some time now. I like being a very specialized forum; I am one of a kind! It has been a challenge and very hard at times, but I just keep plugging away. I mostly spend money on advertising in specialized magazines. I currently have done some link exchanges with a couple of other forums related to some of my topics and since then my uniques and my membership has increased significantly.

We are largely populated by word of mouth. Since we're private we only really get new members from current members, though I do try to canvas for a wider variety of women. Most of my members were with me on another board. When it went all wonky, my friend and I started our board up and it's been smooth sailing-ish.

It's women only. We're chatty. : )

We have been as high as 92 active members... a bit of a slow week with 2 women out having babies. My members take advantage of the entire board, every forum is well used and full. For them, the board is like an interactive diary-- we share everything, joys and fears, triumphs and failures. It's a really great community full of wonderful women. (Today. When they piss me off, dont' ask!)
