Well, some do the same for registrations...they'll say "hey, I'll register at your forums if you register at mine"...it's simply a way to increase your member count. James is just wondering why people do it...what good it does for the forums. I can understand where his question's coming from, but I can also see the reason that people will do it - everybody wants a larger member base ....but I'm like James, I'd rather have fewer members who post than a bunch of members who don't

Not the other way around.

On the other hand, like PunchMe said, having a large memberbase and few posts makes you look like a barren wasteland. You have to hit it somewhere in between, which is something that really isn't all that easy to do. With that said, I really don't understand the mindset of the registration for registration thing, where I have seen it the people involved are generally new. This really is just one of many problems that are very common for new forum administrators. | ||||

| I would sacrifice some of my registered members totals for more active members in a heart beat. One of the reasons my site has been so slow is due to the lack of return members and also those that don't post that often with good quality posts.
