What would you charge?!

Howdy!

I'm wanting to offers some ad space on PC101 but I'm not sure how much I should charge. I can offer...
  • A rotating banner (468 x 60) which appears at the top of every page, with 5 banners in rotation.
AND
  • A side banner (125 x 125) which appears on the home page.

I guess I could offer some text links too but I'm not sure where to place them.

Here are the uniques and page views for 2006.

Jan - 718 - 31727
Feb - 473 - 21604
Mar - 609 - 55995
Apr - 565 - 34239
May - 530 - 17428
Jun - 837 - 21512
Jul - 682 - 23774
Aug - 978 - 20472

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I would start out at around $3-$5 for both ad placements and see how it goes. You are in a very highly competetive market.

$3- $5... that was my thought too.

And yes... I am in a competetive market. I seem to have a habit of getting into these types! lol

Thanks for responding!

I agree that $5 would probably be a good starting point also. I always recommend starting low and slowly raising your rates as you see fit...This way you are sure to sell the space. If you start with rates that are too high, you will never sell the space...thus you don't make any money. Start low and slowly increase the rate if you see that they sell quickly. Do this until you find that it's hard to sell the spots, and then stop raising it.

Start low and then you can increase when interest picks up.

People always want something when its popular!!

Yeah $3-$5 would be fine.

If you don't really need that money, but you look forward, then even smaller prices would be better, because at the begining you want many advertisers. Then you can slowly raise the prices.

I agree that for starters $5 is a fair rate.

I have saw ads on a forum that's smaller than mine (and after years of being online) with static links at 50 USD or more. Well, that's hilarious

So .. this seems a good price you thought off. As soon as you get more traffic and members and have more people interested, increase the prize. Best of luck
