Site Ranking? Alexa...

I've been told my one of my advertisers that they look at Alexa for site rankings, and this is how they pay for advertising...

I'm not sure if Alexa is the right method to determine this (as widely discussed), btu was wondering how do others answer this question?

I'm sure there is a better method out there, but not sure what to refer my potential advertiser to...

Ideas?

The deal with Alexa is that while it isn't really acurate unless you are in the top 1,000-5,000 or so, companies still look at it as important. I also have done business with advertisers, solely because of my sites Alexa rank.

good feedback... I started to use Google Analytics on my site. Seems like a better way to show the information in a neutral place (not just my opinion)...

Thanks

This is very true.

As irrelevant as that number actually is, it has been a tool for advertisers for a long time.

Yep, they are right...Overall, Alexa is a poor measure of traffic. The only exception is for the very high ranked websites (10,000 or lower). That's not going to stop advertisers from looking at it and considering it, though. Different strokes for different folks...Some advertisers like to factor Alexa into where they advertise, so you've got to pay attention to it as a publisher.
