| AdWords Wow, I'm really impressed that I was able to get some placements on some adwords. For example, sports yields my sports site as number one sponsored as well as a few other main ones. I think this might get expensive lol. Already $5 worth of advertising in about 1 hour. I'm willing to spend it for a month or so to get interest coming in. Would you say it's worth it to spend $10/day to get the traffic coming?  | ||||

| Like when people search something on google and it comes up with the sponsored links at the top, if so then yeah it will be worth it. Might get a bit costly though as you said

Join Date: Sep 2005 Posts: 10,246 Location: Athens, GA  | If the keywords (clicks) you're paying for are targeted and not ridiculously expensive, then sure, keep advertising. It's also good if you can put in some type of measure to track whether or not these guests are converting to members. One way of doing this would be to create a dummy account in your forums designed to represent "adwords"...Then, in adwords, replace your destination URL with a vB referral link. This way, any time somebody finds your site from adwords and then registers, that dummy account will receiver a referral. You can compare your referrals to how much you're spending and decide whether or not it's worth it to you.

| I am with Ryan, if you can afford it, then why not keep it going. I also agree you need to figure out how it's converting. Sure you can be spending the money to get the users there, but are they staying and joining. Also just remember, you don't have to be number 1 on the sponsored listings, I like to be around in the #3-7 positions. | ||||

| The memberships don't necessarily matter at this point, the idea is to create traffic. Those that go to the site by clicking, may not join at the time but there will be things that they may keep coming back for in the future. | ||||

| mh... ( i keep forgetting your name) Show me an example of your Ad. Maybe I can help you improve it so that you get better clickers that convert, rather than "curious" people. Also, why not "stumble" your site? You can do one different page a day.
