How can i make money

So i've been thinking to myself, how can a forum with 1,200+ members and 105,000+ posts NOT be making any money. I need help.

I have just made an advertising page, so people can see prices on how much they would have to pay to have their banner on my forum.

How can i make money guys? Adsence is really bad...$60 from 12 months :/

I need these advertisers, but there must be other ways?

60$ from 12 months :O i wouldnt expect such little from such a big forum but i only see one ad? Maybe contact owners of forums on other cartoons e.g simpsons,family guy etc
p.s i will be in contact with you about advertising

EDIT: I would work on pruning the users that havent been active since 2006?

Why? I never understood the point of doing this.

As for making money, you could put adsense in a little better positioning so its above the fold, eg where users can see it without scrolling down. Also try private advertisers, CPM networks such as ADSDAQ, Kontera, etc...

Tell me more about these private advertisers? What are they.

Oh and i'm not going to prune my members thanks. I want my member count to stay high. It's one of my best features.

Private advertising is when you sell ad space on your site to individuals or companies for a rate you choose. For an example of this you can see AdminFusion's Advertise page.

Try DigitalPoint to sell private ads also

Also, do as Moelman suggested and put Adsense and/or banner ads right above or below your welcome message. The square blocks will perform well there. See these forums for an example of that. And if you put up anything as big as that, you should probably only display them for guests. You don't want to run any members away...plus, members are not likely to click your ads anyways.

Hmm, well I can't put my google advert there as thats potentially where i want real peoples banner to go.

I will have a look at that site.

EDIT - I'm unsure which section i should ask about the space selling. I can't see a appropriate one. Do you know?
