Looking to buy - help me judge a forums worth - Page 2

I meant if you want a WOW site, I would suggest using his domain as it's good and may be worth the price. But, I wouldn't by his vB license (unless you need one and it's lower priced) or his theme. There's several WOW theme's that you could use to start.

I think with some keywords and more content (his site is rather bare and dead) your ranking results could increase pretty easily because the domain name is good.

I really don't see why you would see this as an attractive option. WoW is what, four years old now? And there are so many already establised forums out there. Starting fresh with a new forum is not going to be easy. Especially when the official WoW forums at forums.worldofwarcraft.com are so old and popular and established. I just can't see this working. I'd drop the idea in your position, but it's your time and money that is going on it, not mine, so just ignore me and my negativity. I wish you the best if you do go for this.

Well if I'm gonna do this I'll have to find another domain because he told me the deal has to be all-or-nothing since he's invested too much in the skin, etc. Right now I can't afford and don't think it would be worth an offer of x,xxx which is the kind of offer he said he would need.

With regards to why I want to do this anyways, most things I like that I come up with as forum topics already have big competition so instead of settling on something I'm not as interested in I'm just going to do something I really enjoy whether it will be difficult or not. With 9 million subscribers theres gotta be room for one more I figure.

Thats a good one, I have a list of possible .com and .net domains written down that I'll try to choose from. At first I was trying to get a .com for sure but so many are taken I might have to settle.

Have you decided on one yet? I saw PHPBB has a WOW mod when i was looking on there earlier.

Well a couple ideas I had to narrow it down from just a WoW forum was to have a forum for the upcoming expansion, or do a level 70s-only forum. The problem with the 2nd idea is its easy to fake it (they have the armory which is a db of all the characters but they could just take someone elses) and the level cap is being raised when the x-pack comes out. But I haven't decided, I'm not very good at taking action in these situations, I think about it too much.

I play in Demon Soul currently but eventually I'm going to be moving, a bunch of people I know moved from there to another server so I'll follow eventually.

Hosting your own realm is against the TOS as far as I know.
