![]() | Advertiser contacted us I recently received an email from a company who would like to advertise on my forum. They would like to know how many unique users and page impressions we have and how much we would charge for advertising. This is new to me since I have never been approached by a company before and I don't know how much to charge. These are our stats so far this year: ![]() What would be a reasonable amount to charge for advertising? |

![]() | They didn't specify whether they want a link or a banner so I would like an idea what I could charge for either of those if possible. |

![]() ![]() | Advertising is typically bought on a cost per thousand CPM basis. Anywhere from $5 - $20 is seen depending on quality. If you have a perfect target, and the company has the $$, then higher end. If you have a perfect target, and the company is lower end, then less. Like if you had a popular forum that talked about personal injury legal issues, you could probably get higher then if you had a kite flying forum. Both perfect targets, but your advertiser base is clearly different. Also, do you have an ad system that will display ads by impression? Or were you just going to paste them on? If the latter, just see if you can get them to agree to $10/thousand and you'll have to manually manage it. Also, you say no one's ever approached you before... when they call or make their "insertion order" how are you going to charge them? Do you have a DBA for your business? Or are you just going to take PayPal? Either way, they may need a W-9 or some other sales form. Scott |
