But little by little I succeeded in closing some of their doors, so I am not that targeted anymore. I already have a required registration field called "How did you find out about the site." The spammers must have some type of program or something because they override it and register without answering the question. A regular user wouldn't know how to override the question. Quote:

| Title: Rookie Join Date: Sep 2006 Posts: 22 Location: UK ![]() | yes visual identification and email validation are essential, admin approval is ultimately the best way to do it but it's a nuisance if you get a lot of registrations. Another way I have used is to make it so when a person registers they are a 'Trial or probationary member' so for about a week they have limited posting rights e.g. no access to main boards until you put them in a 'Full member' group where they can post in them once they have posted acceptable posts. | ||||
