Banned members directory

I use to do this, until I realized it was such a bad idea. I used to have a forum just for banned members, meaning I would make a thread listing all banned members. (Similar to what http://pbnation.com does). Does anyone else think this is a bad idea?

I don't think it's a "bad" idea, but I don't see the point in doing it, either. I don't really think that the other members of the forum need to see a list of which members have been banned, etc.

I don't think the public really needs to know the people who have been banned... seeing a user's post with "banned" under it is good enough, in my opinion.

If you mean ban reasons as well, then I definitely don't think that should be released. The reason for a ban should be between the forum staff and the banned member - not something to share with the entire community.

Some of the time, people who get banned do it for the attention. Look at me! Look at me! I'm disrupting the forum. By posting a thread you're only giving gratification for bad stuff.

I have never used a banned members list on a forum and cant see any benefits in doing so. I think that Belloman summed it up quite well.

If someone gets banned then that is their punishment for whatever they did to deserve it on the forum.

Now firstly I thought oh that does sound good but then I had it stuck in my brain after that it wasn't. If you just mean for those temporarliy banned maybe an ok idea but for those that are actually then No.

Why should those that are temporarily banned be exposed, while those that are permanently banned should not be? That's not exactly fair, and I still don't understand why you would want to create a directory of banned members. Sure, they did something wrong, but why would you want to embarrass them further? That's a pretty low thing to do, especially as a forum administrator.

i dont' have too many people to ban so it would be kinda empty

But I agree .. a ban is something negative both for user and forum. No use "bragging" too much about it
