Do you delete the members you ban?

| Title: Groupie Join Date: Jun 2007 Posts: 31 ![]() | I delete permanent banned members account if they're bots or spammers. I don't delete members who have mischevious activity as they usually plead to come back by sending me e-mails.

| Title: Rookie Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 17 ![]() | Actually, I've never deleted anyone, I've had to ban only a couple folks and they were pretty much lurkers who'd read my stuff and just email me all the time negative attitudes so I had to actually put a blocker on lurkers, it's either join and read my stuff and make posts there. That's what the forum is about to share ideas and have conversations.

I have a section in the Admin/Staff forum where we keep a record of it all in case problem users come back to cause me crap.. When I delete them, I also prune all their posts as well - no posts with Guest messages left. | ||||

Also, their email and IP remain banned. For users who request for their account to be deleted [only one, a mod who didn't like a few extra Adsense ads because "his customers were complaining - he posted his articles and linked to them], I simply edit their email to stop them getting any messages from us [incl. password reminders], and change their password, effectively locking them out, but to the average Joe user, it's just a dormant member. For the spammers who get banned, I just remove their posts [if they keep re-registering etc, censor their URL - very effective]. | ||||
