How to handle members who threatin to spam

Recentley on Lostgurus which i am a super moderator of a member threatened to spam like there was no tommorow if new content wasnt posted on the forums and if his demands werent met he would spam.

What would you do if this happened to you?

Well I am waiting for him to go through with his threat, then I will just IP ban him

well, I would ban him right away
vb has some good banning tools, if not ban then put him in the miserable users group

ps. I think you both handled it well, but I would still add the miserable user hack and put that user in it..

On a serious note Loco.m is right, just install miserable user hack and put him into it.

It is a good idea, but i think he tried to make the demands to try and get the forum to be more active, even if he done it the wrong way. Putting him in this miserable usergroup will mostly likely annoy him and he may continue to be a pest to lostgurus maybe by changing his IP , or maybe he has a dynamic ip and registeres a new account each day and then starts to spam.

"Miserable user" and "send tachy to coventry" are invaluable.

A simple ban can sometimes just wind someone up, but if they're just ignored and get all the forum errors most the time they don't even know what you've done. they continue trying to post, then just give up and piss off.

Well i will be keeping a closer eye on him and his posts, If he makes another spam account then i'll compare the ip's to the 2 accounts that he has already registered.

Most people who make threats normally don’t follow through. If they do, just take appropriate actions by banning.
