![]() | hijacking posts How do you handle posts that are hijacking your threads? I used to delete them, but I realized that it was a very unpopular decision and I'm not sure now if deleting them hurts my traffic more than if I kept them. What's your take on this? |

![]() | When the discussion grows a leg of its own, but it still remains within the forum's subject, I split the posts and move them to existing threads. But when the discussion really takes an odd turn, like "it reminds me of a dream I had" and people reply to it, then my first reaction is to delete them. However, people don't always appreciate that... Would you just keep them? |

| Member | Yes, I would keep them but clip them off the thread and make it a thread of its own in appropriate section of the forum.

| Veteran ![]() | Most forums have a split thread option. If some users are steering into another topic, just split it and make it a separate thread

| The Webmaster ![]() | Depends on the situation, but usually I just make a post in the thread remind them of the thread topic. If its veered way off topic I will either split the thread or close it. So really you have a lot of options, just do what you think is best for the situation.

| Veteran ![]() | Our forums are about gossip, so any post like that just remains like that

| Veteran ![]() | So by hijack you mean changing the topic mid-thread?

| Super Moderator ![]() | Skin them alive! Just kidding, I think it depends on how bad they hijack it and if it's multiple times that they've done it.
