Problematic Donating Members

Do you ever get the problem where members who donate think they are something of above the rules. I have had a few who seem to think if they donate enough money, it will save them from the ban hammer. Fair enough if i donated to a community, i'd expect something back, nothing fancy, just like a little rank or something to point out I had helped the community, but I would never for a moment think because I had donated i would be spared if I did something that deserved a banning.
Have you ever come across this?

I've had to ban a moderator and supporting members before. It's just something that has to be done if they can't handle themselves in a decent manner on the boards and respect the rules.

As soon as i opened TD i had a chick come on and donate $25 then directly went to a thread that was racial in topic and started dropping N-bomb's!!!!

WOW....she wasn't necessarily being derogatory but she was using the word to explain her point. I pm'd her and layed the law down, she chilled, but she still tries to push the limit.

now i have written rules, and censors....

Yeah, I've had that problem before also...We've actually had to ban multiple donators here at AF. It definitely has something to do with the fact that they think since they donated, they are allowed to bend the rules, and that's simply not the case.

yeh i have had the same, not sure if its cause he has donated or not but have given him 2 warnings.

Why do people just think that cause they donate or are staff, different rules apply to them

To be honest, if you ban a donating member that will just take $$$ away from you. Have you tried talking to them?

The member has already donated - banning them is not going to take any money away from you. It could take away potential future donations from that member, but the chances of them donating again are probably pretty slim. Regardless, members cannot and should not be able to buy their way out of the rules.

The repercussions of somebody breaking the rules in your forums are much bigger than the risk you take of not receiving another donation from that person.
