Was going to say the same thing. An easy way to confirm this is to change the display colour of the banned usergroup to something different. Sometimes it's nice to see when these people are trying to get in, and watch for new suspicious registrations around those times

When dealing with heavily copywriter material like that, this may be a bad idea, and this situation is a perfect example. To avoid plagiarism, and ensure the members that their content is safe, you may have to change this. Maybe make a guest section where people can post clips or examples of the stories, instead of the whole thing. Protects the members product, and gives guests a preview of the site.

This is getting worse.

This user is badmouthing my forum on other sites in an attempt to discredit it and generally just won't go away even still.

If it's bad enough, you can always go to those forums and state the facts, but be careful...If you do this, you need to be extremely polite and professional. If he attacks you, do not attack him back. The idea here is to make him look like the bad guy - Make him look like he's out of his mind.

You also have the option of just ignoring him all together. We've had a number of people who have talked poorly about AF elsewhere. I've seen these comments myself, and usually I just let them go. This stuff happens, because there's just not way to make everybody happy. What is really interesting is when we've banned somebody, they go talk trash, and then a little while later they come back begging for forgiveness. These are the people who don't have a clue, and also the people who you don't need to worry about.

The other option is to change them to Miserable User (if you have that hack) which is TOTALLY annoying and they might just go away out of shear frustration. LOL
