How do you give criticisms?

I was going through this article on criticism, and wondering how you guys gave critiques to actions and works when you need to give it?

How do you convey what had to be conveyed and still maintain the community feel?

Do you mean, how do I criticize something without causing an unnecessary blow-up on the board?

Yes. Some times, we do need to say something - but do you 'sugar coat' it? What is your approach?

Make sure you emphasise constructive criticism, e.g instead of saying "The colour you used is horrible" try "I think that pink would be a better colour than green"

Compliment sandwich!

Love your skirt
Your top sucks tho.
Shoes are cute.

I'm kidding.

We try to be honest but use as much tact as possible. "I like X but I'm not feeling Y... how about doing [insert suggestion].

One thing I saw at a forum that I had to quit visiting was a stupid suggestion preceded with 'maybe'. Like 'Ouch I cut my finger!' 'aww maybe try not to do that time?"

Ya know what? Maybe try not to annoy me next time? IGNORE!
