Somone I got to get me some traffic spammed some members from a forum

I just found out someone I got to get me some targeted visitors to my forum sent emails to some members of a forum that is the same subject as mine (I guess that's how he knew it would be targeted visitors ), and now loads of the members from that forum are spamming my forum.

I just told him about the situation on MSN and he told me he sent an email to a "few" people.

One of the people who signed up just posted a message saying something like, "You spammed members from a forum and now it's time to shut up shop" or something along those lines, I can't remember exactly as they edited it straight after.

So basically I'm getting loads of spam posts, threads and members on my forum for something I didn't do. I have no idea what forum he spammed, I dunno where the users are coming from so I don't know what to do

You hire a spammer, you will get spammed!

Take it as a mistake you made and as lesson learnt and apologize to all those who post this kind of message and hope they will understand the situation.

Well I didn't know he was gonna spam I wouldn't have got him to do it if I had known.

I'm going to try to get him to tell me the forum he got the emails from next time I see him online so I can go straight over there and apologize

Flashgear is on a distinguished road
Send a message via ICQ to Flashgear Send a message via MSN to Flashgear
Add email verification, that will most probably stop them. But hiring a spammer wasn't good. You could apologize if you wanted to try and smooth things over but i personally wouldn't bother..Just leave it.

Don't delete there spam posts either, move them to another forum - It's still post count . Next time don't hire a spammer.

He told me he had one of those traffic websites, so I thought the traffic would be legit

He's not likely to tell me where he got them from anyway.

Have you checked your logs for referring sites? If he posted a live URL at this other forum, then it'll show up in your logs.

If you don't see anything in the logs, you could always make an announcement or send out a mass email about this. Tell your members what happened and ask them if they received a PM or email from somebody about your forum to give you more details.
