We just went through this at our forum as discussed here. The member that caused issues for PostReboot didn't start posting garbage right after donating but it wasn't long afterward.

Someone being racist? Ban ban ban. No matter what position they are at the site, the rules apply to everyone.

It's a tough call, but I agree with what has been said. The rules on your board are to be universally applied or you might get other who think they are above the law.

Yup, as lots of the others said, treat him the same as anyone else, it doesn't give them special rights in my book.

I would have to say you hit it on the head. Racial slurs slight or major shouldn't be tolerated. All races have things that they don't like to hear about their group of color or background.

I find it utterly rediculous that a person in this time of our world would still have racist ideas or notions in their head.

Not to long ago I had a member of my forum say something that was racist and we banned him for 30 days as a result. I know the guy quite well and I told him "I don't care if you have those kinds of thoughts or even if it was a simple bad day that someone of that race pissed you off but you have to remember that this kind of shit is just not tollerable. If you were around me I would have beat the hell out of you myself to save the other person from having to do it." He stayed pissed for a while that we had banned him for so long but when he came back he did appologize and we all went on. He admited to having a seriously shitty day and he took his actions way too far. I was actually suprised that the person he made the remark to accepted it and they are actually cool now.

The members of my forum mostly in Florida so they aren't all that far apart (most in miami area). Regardless of were you live though, there are people that will go out of their way to make you pay for what you say.

Maybe you should consider talking to this guy on AIM or yahoo IM about it and let him know that he will have to be banned for a time and when he comes back he will need to write an apology to the people that he made a remark to if he intends to stay on the site, if he doesn't do it. Then get rid of him entirely.

Basically sums up my point of view, however this is how I am with all members.

I doubt many of my members would have $100 to their names. I need some more members in their twenties
