Turning around and stooping to his level is not the way to handle the situation...All that's going to do is make your situation worse

I'd keep banning him for a while, and just don't give him any attention. People do this because they want attention. If you don't give it to him, and you force him to register over and over again, he's probably going to give up.

I would also say that censoring his URL is good enough - If he can't post his URL anywhere, what interest does he have in spamming your forums? Not much other than to make you mad...and he won't do that forever.

If none of that works, try a sub-net ban...but be careful with that, because you can sometimes block out innocent people.

I wouldn't turn on email verification for everybody because of one problem member.

Look at the bright side of all this. Each time he registers, he makes your membership count go up higher. (I know, that's cheesy)

My forum uses ranks. I made a bright orange and yellow rank that shouts out "SPAMMER." I promote their rank and assign this rank badge to them.

It's funny to watch how the other members treat him after that.

Christmas or nothing, I would have re-banned him when I saw this. What good would he have accomplished by coming back and re-registering after he is banned? As far as I'm concerned, once you are banned, it doesn't mean you can re-register and all is forgotten. If I catch a banned member registering again, they get banned too. Eventually they'll give up when they can't get anywhere.

And as others have said, blocking the URL's almost always works.

How about you get all your members, if you have over 500 members I'm sure he won't enjoy deleting and banning over 500 members spam posts to viagra sites and also to yours
