Deleted posts

A couple of days ago, I got a private message from one of the members on my forum asking me to delete their account. Since it's written in our rules that we do not delete accounts, I didn't take any action.

The member in question came back to the forum and continued to post as normal so I thought it was forgotten. However, when I visited today I discovered they had deleted a lot of their posts and a lot of the topics no longer make any sense since they have gaps where that member had posted.

I didn't realise the option for members to delete their own posts was enabled (probably through a fault of my own ) but I have now disabled that feature.

How would you deal with the situation? Should I just delete the topics that now make no sense? Should I say anything to that member?

Advice is appreciated.

Just letting it go would be best. Most topics won't stay active for long and probably won't be seen again.
