My before you ban checklist

On my forum, in the moderator lounge I have a before you ban checklist.

Quote:

Before banning checklist

- Was it a serious or repetitive offense?
- Did you use all the things you have in your toolbox?(does not apply to serious offenses or automatic ban situations)
- Did you warn the member? (also does not apply to serious offenses and automatic ban situations)

When banning checklist

- Did you give a full detailed ban reason to show the member?
- Did you post a topic in the moderator lounge to let me and the other moderators know that you banned someone?
- Is the ban fair?

Do you think it is good?

What do you think I could add?

very good. I think that excessive banning can be really decremental if it is not explained.

I agree it is a very good list. Sometimes moderators can get a bit carried away or just not know when it is right and wrong to ban someone, so a few tips always help and this list is perfect for that. Thanks for sharing!
