People like reputation - they like having those extra little green bars, as they are hard to earn It can be abused, yes, but I rarely see any problems with this...odds are, the people who abuse it do not have much "rep power" anyways, so even when they do, it doesn't have a large effect on the system.

Up to this point I've always kept reputation off as it was always being abused, though now that I see that it can actually have a good, practical purpose, I'm thinking of enabling it for my next project. | ||||

| Currently disabled on our forum. No real reason just haven't tried it. I have it on a game forum of one of my sites and haven't had any trouble with it there.

| I have it enabled on my forum, but I don't know if a lot of members know about it. I feel like I am the only one who uses it because almost everyone has the same description "on a distinguished path" or whatever. But I don't know how I would go about telling everyone about it without being rather obnoxious.

Join Date: Sep 2005 Posts: 10,246 Location: Athens, GA | I dont really know of any way to encourage people to use it either...I think it's just something that comes with time...as your forums become more established, people will earn more reputation...get more green bars...notice comments in their UCP, etc...it seems that it is a very widely used feature on most large forums I visit, but not so much in smaller forums.
