Banning IP in Cpanel

I am curious if anyone has used the cpanel option to ban an user IP address to stop them from seeing your site completely.

I used this option last time I banned someone and seems to have worked, when they come to my domain they cant see it.

The problem with bannng an IP completely it very few users have a static IP. Plus people can use a proxy to access your site.

Yep, Seraph is right...banning a single IP doesn't always solve the problem. I've never used the cPanel ban specifically....I just prefer to use vB's banning system instead. Afterall, when I need to ban somebody from the forums, banning them in vB does the job...I don't really care whether or not they can see the front page, as long as they can't post

I suppose banning via cPanel is good when you're dealing with a hacker or somebody who you dont want to even touch your site at all - but I've yet to run into this. I've had some people banned serverwide before, but that was done through my host.

I usually ban from vB too, but it's good to have other options.
So far I had no problems with hackers or malicious people trying to access my controls.
