I look for drama threads, and uhh... funny threads. That's pretty much it.

Oh, and also game threads.

For me it would have to be general chat, web/forum support, debating, religion and politics. But like Shells said, forums that deal with things like politics, religion and debate are only really good when they're managed properly.

@Straga: Finding good gaming forums is downright tricky, lots of angry teens and some others who should be under ritalin or something. A friend of mine used to have a spanish languaje site and boards dedicated to gaming and competitions but sadly the site is no more. So right now I'm just visiting boards from the two games that I'm playing right now, Guild Wars and Dawn of War. And of course I enjoy some madness with my clan mates in my site.

Seriously it's okay, to me it was always like Soap Operas, you only watch them when your bored. *Shrugs*

@Hell3 - I agree, the ones I found through google where dead for that same reason, people can't seem to get the fact that it's just a game so they fight about it lol, which can be amusing but it's starting to get as bad as the political debate forums!

debate topics and the introduction topics. very easy to tell the feel of the board in how they greet new people. i really try to stay away from "kiddie" boards with 12 year old active posters.

That's a great insight into the entire community Jamie. On fj's the same members post in both the intros and debates yet the contrast of posts give a round image of the community. In one forum you'll see them greeting members, asking questions, even having a laugh and joke with each other etc and then in the debates you'll see them thrashing out perspectives
