What to do with a not so helpful member?

Right now I have a member that makes me want to :banghead:. Hes a nice guy, he just doesn't know what hes talking about. He is always trying to help out. :o But in the end he just doesn't make any sense. I haven't had a chance to talk with my staff. One staff member has been MIA, and the other staff member is going with the flow.

This is my first forum so I have never had to experience a member like this before. What would you guys do with him? :o

Could you post some quotes of 'trying to help out' because I can't visualise that very clearly of yet...

Well, I would rather not out who he is. (example) But if I say "the room is green", he says "the room looks like red flowers and my pillow is stiff". He dosent agree with what I say and he throws a curve ball to go with it. By talking about something that just dosent make any sense.

(example) Also the thread might be about the weather and he we post "I like rice" in the same thread. I really dont know what to do with this guy.

Have you asked them if they have any sort of disability? I once battled a member for a long time, trying to get them to make sane threads, stop their lame trolling and to spell correctly. In the end it turned out they had some sort of learning disibility. What pissed me off is that other members though this excused them complaining about me and being an idiot towards me, 'because he can't help it'.

Anyhow, best find these things out sooner rather than later.

If i felt the member was delibratly trying to distrupt or troll the thread i would challenge them

eg,members post: "the room is green", he says "the room looks like red flowers and my pillow is stiff".

Reply: "could you show a screenshot of how you see the room and sorry, i can't see the relevance to a stiff pillow and the room colour.. could you expand on that please"

Sounds a little trollish. I've had a few. I've found if they get ignored, they get bored and go away. Seems that forums attract all kinds of people.
