Backup question

| Backup question on a phpbb forum, if you are an admin, in the panel, you see a backup database thing. The thing I don't know how to use is the additional tables slot. What does it do and how does it work?  | ||||

Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 5 | I would recommend you ignore this feature completely, unless things have changed in phpbb (and other forum tools for that matter), the default backup systems require you to manually run them. Every site needs a backup system that is both automated and system operated so as to avoid issues if you go out of town or if your network connection to the web server should timeout. | ||||

| this feature in the phpbb acp is fine, but when I ran phpbb2 I made my backup from the MySQL and then the ftp. and this still is not a great way, but it works.. Now the best way to make a single backup is in cpanel, there is a backup option. Just click that and you will be emailed when your backup is made. Then you dl' it from the ftp.. as for none cpanel, I have no advise. and to setup a cron job that would automate it all, can't help ya there either ? good luck -Brandon | ||||
