Advice regarding a problematic member

I have a problematic member, but before i explain it, i will tell you the story how it all began.
One of my In My Opinion (IMO) threads got a bit out of hand, So one of my moderators set about editing the posts, and deleting a few, (back then the forum was relatively new, so we rarely deleted anything) However the Moderator missed out a comment, that was referring to the now problematic member in a unfriendly way, The member took this lack of editing personally, and now at every oportunity the member posts a post sarcastically, or slyly relating to the incident. Both myself, as Head Admin, and the Moderator who made the error, have sent a Private Messege to this member, yet he still posts his sly comments.

any help?

I haven't had any problems like this, but I think you should tell him if he keeps it up you will just ban him. Most people would probably just ban right off the bat, but I really think you should give him this last warning and tell him that you will not put up with his rudeness and disrespect any longer and if he can't follow the rules then he is gone. Good luck with this!

I would warn the person and give them 3 strikes. If they continue and you have explained all of this to them then it's time to ban. Most will get it and straighten up. If this person doesn't then they shouldn't be there.

I'd also give him a warning or two...and if he keeps it up, ban him.

Don't let troublesome members stick around just because your forums are new, it isn't worth it.

I'm an ass, so I would just ban him and move on.

And this, folks, is why Larry has "DEV" at the top of his avatar instead of "ADMIN"

I agree give then a couple of warnings via private messages about their conduct on the forum and if the do not comply you will be forced to banned them. Most members will shape up and if the don't you simply need to ban them.

Banning is not an option I like either, but it some cases you have no choice.

Funny... I remember a time not too long ago where Ryan would have done the same thing.
