As Admin, what are we, and not responsible for?

As admin, what are we responsible for, and if something goes wrong, what are the things that can be held against us?
I mean, is there anything as admins, we could be liable for?

Ussually we are trusted with peoples personal information on registration and all, but it's ultimatly their choice to hand it over. If there is no obvious privacy statement, or agreement, technically they can't complain.

Not that I would ever do that, just saying

In today's crazy legal world, you can probably be held liable for just about anything given the right circumstances. My advice to you would be to cover all of your bases with the appropriate Privacy Policies and Terms of Service. If you're still worried about one certain situation, then ask us here and we'll do our best to give you some advice

Yup. You always want to have a good Privacy and Legal Policy written up. If someone can sue McDonalds for giving them a hot cup of coffee, then someone can sue you for posting incorrect information.

If someone has enough money for attorneys and wants to shut you down, they'll likely succeed. In order for them to sue you for an actual amount of cash, they'd have to prove damages...

As far as being arrested for something, just don't break the law.

Off topic, but that's a terrible analogy... That woman deserved every penny she got.

I don't know if you can get in trouble for posting incorrect information. But yes make sure you have a great TOS and Privecy Policy in place and make sure it is dated and anytime you update it make sure you make a not of it and which policy was updated or changed.

like others have said make sure you keep your statements up to date. If you have people under 13 registering make sure you get them to send a COPPA form.

If they lie and say they are over 13 your are not responsible but if you keep data about under 13's when they have said they are under 13 you need a COPPA form.

The data that applies to this is any data that can be used to identify/contact the child including: Full name, email address, Home Address, Phone Number and similar.

Not all websites need them but it's best to get it covered just in case.

Agreed with the fact that you could have problems for anytning in this world. What I feel is my responsability? Provide my members with a nice place to talk, good information and nice community. I try to keep them protected from spam and other "pains", but I cannot be always on the forums. If someting wrong is there, it would be removed

Granted, the coffee was hotter than it's supposed to be - but that still doesn't excuse her from the reality that coffee is supposed to be hot.

Would fat people sueing McDonalds over making them fat be a better analogy?

180-190 degrees fahrenheit is a little beyond hot, imo... Anyway, still off topic.
