I have a test board on my local machine. It's wonderful because it is quicker and I can play anywhere on the site, if the mod works ok I just upload the files in the same directory to the online directory and is done, if it not work, I just download the files from the online directory to the local directory and everything is fine.

I have a test board online but rarely use it
I'll be using it a lot when 3.7 comes out tho, it'll be a whole forum overhaul.

If a mod has no reported problems on my particular version then I'll usually go ahead and install straight onto a live board without testing. If a mod appears plagued with support requests etc then I don't touch it. I've been ok so far *crosses everything*

The only mod I ever had a problem with was an arcade script that overloaded my server cpu every time I enabled it but that was a problem that a test board would have been useless for as it only happened under heavy activity.

I use a local server for skin design and php development. Page loads are almost instant i.e. no net lag and not having to mess about with ftp is a really nice. Luckily for me I didn't have to set this box up. Only downside I can think of right now is no email server so I can't test scripts with email notification.

It makes my PC emulate a server so I can test software and all that on my home PC. Now that you reply with the name, I'm not sure if that's the name. I thought it was though.
