What do spam bots do?

They don't seem to be doing anything on my forum, i was bored and let one in. they hav'nt done anything or will they? bah stupid fools.

Well they spam

My old forum was spammed a lot by bots, and nothing I did could stop them.

they havn't done anything but register, i think its because i got i got email validation and admin approval at the same time.

I welcome all spammers because i feel that were all created equal

anyway one of the member posted the same message 100 times across my forum while I was gone they re was some cleaning up to do

I have had some join and also don’t do anything. I do have them in moderation “mode” so just in case they post I can control it.

Post Exchange with a member on here, then they will be quality post,

Spam bots are crawling my new forum too. Yesterday I removed the image verification code on register, and got a bot registered immediatelly that started promoting porn sites, so I put it back again.

Yes, porn is there specialty it would seem

I have Image Verification, and a hack which adds a question that you set yourself. (vBulletin Only, thread is here Stop Spam MOD)

Yes but have they entered any websites urls into their profiles. Some did that on my bookshop forum as they was advertising their websites through the member lists.
