I have every backup all the way back to when my forums were started several years ago. Why? Because I have more space than I could ever begin to fill up. I may as well keep them.

I think I usually keep at least a week's worth, no reason not to since i have the space. For me that takes up about 5mb each so far...

I have one made daily at some time (like 3AM or something on my server's time) and I keep the past week's worth. It's all done automatically, and how I have it set up is one cronjob for each day of the week, so then there are 7 files on my server (outside of the public_html folder ) that gets overwritten on the day of the week the next week...

I have the same exact thing for my downloads system (over 150 downloads - wouldn't want to loose that!)

I try and back up daily and keep 3 months worth. In reality i probably do it every 2 weeks.

Mhhmmmmm, this has made me think! I make regular backups and I have some forum database backups going back several years now! LOL.

Maybe I should remove or archive to CD, etc!
