Hello, I see that a number of people delete spammer profiles. I don't! I usually disable them so that the badguy can not access them and I keep the record so that I can get the IP address and block it from accesssing my site in the future. I have several dating sites and a forum support site that have been attacked by spammers and hackers, some of them viciously and the only way I was able to stop them was to block their access to my system. I had a hacker recently that was pounding one of my dating sites hundreds of times a day with an automated script using multiple IP addresses. Eventually I wrote a script that completely killed his ability to attempt his hack, now I have one of two a week on that site. I have block ALL the Nigerians from accessing my sites by their IP addresses. They were pounding my sites also, particularly the forms. It all has stopped now.

We get 5 - 10 per day. We had to set it up so that each new member has to be verified. I think we need to try that no spam mod. Does that work in conjunction with the Random Image box.. or does it replace it?

Hmmm...I'm almost positive that the, "NoSpam!" modification is an alternative to the CAPTCHA image, but I'm not 100% sure. For reference, here is the link to the modification (for vB 3.6.x).

It can do either.

You can run both of them if you would like, although we found that the No Spam! verification is much more effective than vB's CAPTCHA. If a bot can get by No Spam!, then odds are good that it can get by vB's CAPTCHA also...so there's no reason in having both since all it's going to do is slow down your true registrations.

We get usually at least 2 a day sometimes 5, but we have it set up for admin approval before they can post. Also they have to answer whether they are a spammer, put the word spam in their answer and the spammer always put their country origin in that slot. We were just banning them for a while but now we just delete the account.
