CHMOD 777

hey, hope i explain this right:

I'm worried about having a directory set to 777 but need to upload photos to it, so was wondering if i could have the pics in say abcd/picture.jpg but have them in the code as vxyz/picture.jpg and use .htaccess to show the right picture.

That way the directory that is set to 777 will never appear in the source code and therefore be far less vulnerable to attack, will this work? is it worth doing??

You shouldnt be overly worried about having a folder set to 777, otherwise every forum owner would be in a state of panic about having an uploads folder, or an avatar folder.

But it can be abused, we've had it on other sites, i'd like to remove the target if my solution is viable

Yes it would work, but I agree with Captain Kirk.

Here's some .htaccess that may help you.
