![]() | Back Door Spam Guess what? There really is no such thing as a free lunch. We are all aware of the free emoticon databases that are out there and members do use them... only they have another plan. In a forum I visit often the emoticon links have started showing full banner adds! How cheeky, very annoying but clever marketing... Hard to root out too. See it in action here in this example forum. What do you think? http://forum.globalhousepricecrash.c...t=0#entry87971 |

![]() | Looks like they are having trouble. Try it again. OKay I just tried it... looks like they are having problems. Maybe the emoticon link broke them. I can ask their webmaster what went wrong... but for now take my word for it.. the emoticons turned in to adverts. Since they link to a file all these companies have to do is send an advert.jpg instead of the emoticon sent out origionaly. CC When GHPC goes down they usualy use my forum as a backup. THere may be discussions on this thread on my site. http://www.creditcrunch.co.uk/index....t=20&#entry946 |

![]() | Is there any way you could post the url of where the free emoticons in question came from?
