"Could Not Resolve Hostname"
Spam got out of control on our site so each day we have to go through new registrations and activate them by hand. Even with the email confirm on if we didn't do this it would be a mess.

Sometimes I click on the resolve IP address to get a better idea of who they are. In some cases I get

"Could Not Resolve Hostname"

Is this a give away that this person is a spammer?

Not really.

If your forum software is unable to resolve the hostname, you can copy the IP address and use a dns tools website to find the location.

I use http://dnsstuff.com

Thanks! I'll give dnsstuff.com a try!

So I've been using the

"Spam Database Lookup
See if a mail server is in any spam database"

option

If there is a single server in the data base that pops up should I consider the user to be a spamer. In some cases I've had 5 pop up in others just one.

I find the location of the IP. Most of the time, if they're in a non English speaking country, I go ahead and ban the IP.
