![]() | Keep a lookout for JaMaYcKa Over the past week I've noticed a lot of forums that have been hacked by JaMaYcKa. The forums hacked were across the board in terms of software choice ranging from vB, ipb, phpbb and more. I did a quick search and noticed over 8000 attacks in the last 4 months. Keep an eye for him/them http://www.zone-h.com/component/opti...acer,JaMaYcKa/ |

![]() | It's just a trojan type of program that looks for backholes in your server and usually replaces the index.html. The (forum) software you use will probably have nothing to do with it. My host has been attacked by this type of thing twice ><.

| Apprentice | 99% of the time, it's not the forum that is hacked, it's the server because the server administrator failed to secure the server. Now I know sometimes, things happen, however, it's not always the forum software that is causing the issue .

![]() | I hope it's just that. I read a post on someones forum last night that they were attacked by JaMaYcKa and their forum got destroyed. He was also wasn't to wise not backing up his data so he had to start all over again. I've been attacked by a couple of crackers who altered my index.html, but nothing happened to my forum. Of course it was about a 10 second fix |

| Apprentice | As above, it is generally the server your hosted on, not the forum software. The only instance I can think of where the forums are the actual reason for the hacking is simply due to webmasters being lazy and not updating their software when a security bulletin is posted. If someone isn't willing to update, they shouldn't install .
