Selling Game Accounts

I have a few members that want to make post on my forums trying to selling old game accounts, such as Everquest or World of Warcraft accounts.

While its an iffy subject, whats the legality issues of allowing such post?

I know this sounds stupid, but it's all a matter of whether or not a person is allowed to sell their account to somebody else...and the only way to find out is to check EQ and WoW policies.

WoW says
Quote:
The selling of World of Warcraft accounts, characters, and/or items is against the Terms of Use. Violation of this agreement may result in immediate and permanent account closure.
in more depth:
Quote:
Ownership/Selling of the Account or Virtual Items.

Blizzard does not recognize the transfer of Accounts. You may not purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account, or offer to purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account, and any such attempt shall be null and void. Blizzard owns, has licensed, or otherwise has rights to all of the content that appears in the Program. You agree that you have no right or title in or to any such content, including the virtual goods or currency appearing or originating in the Game, or any other attributes associated with the Account or stored on the Service. Blizzard does not recognize any virtual property transfers executed outside of the Game or the purported sale, gift or trade in the "real world" of anything related to the Game. Accordingly, you may not sell items for "real" money or otherwise exchange items for value outside of the Game.

Everquest:
Quote:
You may not buy, sell or auction (or host or facilitate the ability to allow others to buy, sell or auction) any Game characters, items, coin or copyrighted material.
SO, because it is against the usage policies for both games, you cannot allow it. You need to delete any threads about it and tell your members.

So, if you do allow the selling of game accounts, but in private forums will anything happen?

Doing it secretly does not make it right either...Will anything happen? Well, if you get caught, yes

I like to point out that they will be able to tell by the IP and maybe other ways so selling accounts is not a good idea no matter if done private or not they will be able to find out and close / ban the account as well as maybe the IP as well.
