Yea thats total BS. You as a site owner are not liable for what your users do in private, you are only liable, and only somewhat, for what they post. If they post it in a general area then its up to you or your admins to remove such a post but only if it has illegal content. What your members do is entirely up to their choosing when meeting people. You as the site owner had no say in who meets who so you cant be held responsible for it.

Its very cut and dry there, not sure what your friend was trying to get at or if he was talking out his ass. Looks like the latter to me.
