Ok i own a teen site that i know would be a prime spot for a pedo!
I have been told i can be fined 14k if a pedo gets to a kid through my site, is this true? am i help responsible? how can i protect myself from this?

What do you mean?
I mean if a pedo grooms a child via my forum and i dont know about it...

Just make a note that if any members are contacted by members like that to send you a message to let you know and also report them to their local authorities as well.

As long as you make it clear that member should report such behavior I don't think you should be held liable.

You may want to install the Read PMs mod [and make a note in your rules/ToS/privacy policy that you monitor these]. Also a "Report Abuse" button that's fairly visible would be good. However I can't see how you can be liable for that sort of thing happening.

Me thinks your friend is talking out of his arse..

You should make it aware to your members, that if they have any problems like this, to report them to you..

yea that is total BS. they tried to get some other sites like that including adultfriendfinder and sexsearch and the judge said it didn't work.

In the sex search thing, the girl signed up for a membership and claimed that she was 18 and she was really like 15 or something and so a guy found her on the site, they met and had sex and he got arrested when the parents reported them.

The guy sued sexsearch claiming that they provided a false sense of security in displaying that she was 18 and that it was thier responsability to verify the ages of its members.

The judge said that was stupid and dismissed the case
