To me $75 is a high price just to provide a backup, however, if there is something in the TOS that states this would be the charge, then the host is doing nothing wrong. I don't agree with that policy but as Larry said, if they say this would be the cost to provide a backup, then that's their policy. I have a feeling they don't have this as a written policy though. Or if they do it was only added after this issue came about.

Sorry to hear that you went through this though. Good move on not paying the high cost.

Even IF it is a policy, dont you find it a little shady?

That's like a satellite dish company selling their service for $49/month and then in fine print saying the dish itself costs $2,000

If a host tried to charge me $75 for a backup, regardless of whether or not it is in the agreement, I wouldn't stay there long

Yea, I would try to get away from Lunar Pages, I have not heard many good things about them but it is all up to you. If I was going to spend $75 on a back for a forum(thats what you lost right?) I would just spend the extra $10, switch to VB and use that as an excuse or use the old backup with the converter.

Edit:Ryan ever since I started going here I make daily backups by myself, thanks for the tip.

I didn't loose the whole forum, just all the users... and all the posts don't do no good with out users

all i wanted was one user table...

I really like Lunar Page... thay are a good hosting company...but this was just something stupid... I now make backups once a day (for db) and file backups every month so i hope i will not run into that problem again

and glad you learned the moral of the story
