Confronted Hackers

My website has been hacked for months!
People would register and never post. So i made a rule giving the user 24 hours to post or their accounts will be deleted. The would simply choose a new user name and email and wait till i got upset. I banned them and they just returned to be banned. Today they hacked my site disabling my sites configuration and re- registered. The entered my off topic forum leaving posts for me. Stating that they didn't think i was happy while advertising products which is prohibited. They did everything that wasn't allowed. They kicked me off the net, prevented me from downloading website protected software and many other things. I contacted the police here and they've been on my site. Just now have they talked to me, i have no idea who they are or what their beef is. I just want them to leave me and my site alone. They knew where i was, what i was doing and they were on top of things before my system was.

The only thing I can really advise is contacting your host and talking to them about it. Do you have IP information and email addresses and such things or any evidence at all?

Can be a tricky business dealing with hackers but I suspect that it is probably something software related that they are exploiting. Your host will be able to help you out with this; but make sure that all of your scripts (ie; forums etc) are secure and up to date.

If you have their IP information or any emails from them then I suggest you do a bit of investigation work and trace them to their origins and Internet Service Providers. I would suggest that they can be very helpful when dealing with people who breach site bans - especially with hackers.

How quickly and how pro-actively you deal with this can really impact their response. I would say that in a minority of cases just the threat of legal action, and contacting their ISPs can sometimes work wonders; so definitely get in touch with them too!

Best of luck, let us know if you need any help and let us know how it goes!

Hows this going? Have you made any progress?

Since you have the IPs I would advise you to try single out their service providers and speak with them informing them they are engaging in illegal activities which is most probably against their Terms of Service. Ask them what they are going to do about it; demand action.
